Conference: “The Withdrawal of former Soviet Armed Forces from Germany - Background, Implementation and Consequences”

The University of Greifswald’s Department of History will host a conference to mark the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Germany. The event will take place on 8 and 9 November 2024; historians from Germany and abroad are expected to attend.

Participation is open to everyone interested. However, please register with Ms Doreen Wollbrecht by 3 November 2024 (wollbrecuni-greifswaldde). Part of the programme is an evening lecture on 8 November, 8.00 p.m., which is public and can be attended without registration. Please note that unlike the rest of the conference, the evening lecture will take place at Rubenowstraße 1, lecture hall 1. The conference will be held in German and English and is sponsored by the Max Weber Foundation, the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Syddansk Universitet Odense and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Baltic Sea Region Research.
