Its research focuses on the Baltic Sea region: a geographical and political entity characterised by a diversity of cultures and a unique ecosystem, which is also of great geopolitical importance. Federal Government Funds Interdisciplinary Research for a Resilient Baltic Sea Region

The new project "Resilient Baltic Sea Region: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Politics, Social Structures, and Cultural Identities" has been awarded €3.6 million in funding by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) for the period from June 2026 to May 2030.
