Antje Kempe

Antje Kempe is an art historian and has been a senior researcher at the IFZO since 2019. Her research regarding "Liquid environments" verse the relationship between art and nature in gardens of the early modern period and contemporary landscape architecture integrates design and eco-cultural approaches. Furthermore, she focuses on Eastern and Northern Europe's art, art history, and memory cultures. Antje holds a Ph.D. from the Humboldt University Berlin—her dissertation "Warrior Ethos and Memoria. The Representation of the Aristocratic Officer Corps in Silesia (1648-1742)" explores the construction of group identities in the medium of sepulchral art in Habsburg Silesia.

In 2011-2015 and 2017-2019, she was Research Assistant at the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald. In 2010-2011, she was employed at the Chair in Eastern European Art History of the Institute of Art and Visual History of the Humboldt University of Berlin. She received various scholarships, a.o. of the Caroline von Humboldt-program (2016–2017) or Fritz Stern (2009).
