Climate Change Technologies - Different transformation pathways to climate neutrality
Climate neutrality is not only the goal of the European Union at the supranational level, but also the goal of the national states in the Baltic Sea Region. Notwithstanding a European strategy to achieve this goal, national goals and different transformation pathways exist. The use of climate change mitigation technologies, i.e. technologies to avoid greenhouse gases, is essential in this context. However, it is precisely these technologies that sometimes show considerable differences in the national states and thus contribute to a fragmented transformation. Shaped by the respective national resources, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as the acceptance of the technologies in society, the national states in the Baltic Sea Region also rely on different technologies. Against this background, the development of a common energy market and the trade and import of renewable energy sources can be difficult.
