Baltic Sea Literacy and Behaviour Change

The work package aims to develop the concept of a "Baltic Sea Literacy". Such a regional specification of "Ocean Literacy" can be seen as an important starting point to transform the region into one of the first truly sustainable regions on earth. The results of our research are both a scientific contribution to the discourse and a policy advisory recommendation of the IFZO in the upcoming UN Decade of Marine Research for Sustainable Development. The central questions are which additions and specifics a "Baltic Sea Literacy" needs compared to an "Ocean Literacy" and which internal and external factors on the individual level lead people to change their behaviour towards the (Baltic) sea.
