Excursion to Gotland

30.07 - 06.08.2022

Due to its central location, the island of Gotland was a hub of trade and communication in the Baltic Sea region throughout the Middle Ages. The associated mobility also brought with it a cultural and religious exchange, which is the focus of the excursion. Gotland is called the "island of a hundred churches" for a reason: its numerous sites, buildings, objects, paths, ruins, etc., help to understand well the mediaeval religious mobility in the Baltic Sea region. Accordingly, we will not only visit the landmarks and museums of Visby and remarkable rural churches but also walk a pilgrim path ourselves.

The study program also includes a visit to the Visby campus of Uppsala university, a seminar in hybrid mode and student presentations on the chosen topics of Baltic history.

For participants more details are here and here.

student conference #postpandemicstudying

November 5, 2021, 1-4 p.m. CET

Under the name "post pandemic studying", students of the University of Greifswald want to create a hybrid digital-analog student conference, which will serve to exchange ideas regarding the experiences made at the university during the pandemic and to develop ideas and plans for future digital teaching and learning after common discussions. The students from Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Tampere and Greifswald will meet in a virtual room and first get to know each other and exchange their individual experiences during the pandemic. This will be followed by a discussion regarding what the post-pandemic situation should be like.
