About the IFZO

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Baltic Sea Region Research (IFZO) is a central institution at the University of Greifswald. The IFZO pools all research activities on the Baltic Sea region and offers support, research and transfer structures for innovative research questions and collaborative projects in all subject areas. The IFZO represents the University of Greifswald’s key field of research “Cultures of the Baltic Sea Region”. Membership is open to all researchers at the university. Management and organisation

The IFZO is led by a spokesperson elected at the general meeting and in day-to-day business supported by the IFZO office. The faculties at the University of Greifswald also send one representative respectively to the board, who contributes to the strategic direction of the centre. Academic advisory board

On its medium-term research and development plan, the IFZO is advised by an Academic Advisory Board while on matters of knowledge transfer, it receives advice by an Advisory Board for Science Communication.
