The Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) in Mainz awards fellowships for doctoral candidates from Germany and abroad in the fields of European history and the history of religion, as well as other historically oriented disciplines.
The IEG supports research projects on European history from the early modern period to contemporary history. Particular interest is given to projects:
- with a comparative or cross-border approach,
- concerning Europe in its global interconnectedness,
- on topics in intellectual, religious, or theological history,
- using digital methods and approaches, or
- addressing environmental-historical questions.
