Workshop “Narrating Critical Events” at NTNU Trondheim

On 28–29 May 2026, the workshop Narrating Critical Events will take place at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. The event brings together scholars from different European universities to discuss literary and cultural perspectives on care, crisis, relationality, migration, war, and environmental change.

The programme addresses how narratives engage with experiences of crisis and critical transformation, with contributions focusing on topics such as democratic participation, migration life-writing, care work, postgeneration memory, environmental storytelling, and wartime affect.

Researchers from the University of Greifswald are also participating in the workshop. Dr. Clemens Räthel will present on representations of care and crisis in contemporary Swedish theatre, while Hanna Horn will discuss migration life-writing and practices of self-preservation in the work of Tatsiana Zamirovskaya.

The workshop highlights the importance of interdisciplinary exchange on contemporary societal challenges and the role of storytelling, literature, and cultural analysis in understanding critical events and processes of care.
