The work package aims to expand the scientific basis of sustainability transformation in the Baltic Sea region.  In the research on substance inputs to the Baltic Sea, antibiotics and resistant germs have not yet been comprehensively investigated. In the discussion on behavioural change towards more sustainability, dealing with antibiotic resistance plays an important role. In close cooperation with the University Medicine Greifswald and the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) on the island of Riems, antibiotic residues and the presence and effect of antibiotic-resistant germs (ESBL-producing E. coli) along the route from the clinic, via the sewage treatment plant into the Baltic Sea and in wild birds are analysed. This PhD project follows the "One Health" approach.
